Community Events

The Chamber is an avid supporter of events that embrace and engage the local Goldfields Community and coordinates several community events in conjunction with local not for profit organisations. Some examples of these include :

Goldfields Spring Festival
The Goldfields Spring Festival was established by the Goldfields Art Board in 1985 to provide a platform for the public to celebrate all that is spring in the Goldfields. This annual community driven event is now coordinated by the Chamber, along with the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the Kalgoorlie Miner, both proud partners of this family oriented event. After 25 years, the Goldfields Spring Festival is one institution that has stood the test of time.

Stall holders come from all over the state to participate in the festival, along with varying acts of entertainment throughout the day. The festival appeals to a great deal of our community, with over 5000 patrons attending every year and it is not uncommon for these people to spend the entire day at Hammond Park.

Hammond Park is one of the most beautiful parks in WA and is the perfect location for the festival making this event enjoyable fun for the whole family.

St Barbara’s Festival
The annual Festival, which is held during the first weekend in December, commemorates Saint Barbara, the Patron Saint of Mining and provides the Goldfields community with an opportunity to celebrate both the region’s heritage and the contribution that mining has made to the City we live in.
Since its inception in 1999, the festival has become an integral part of the Goldfields-Esperance social calendar; jointly managed by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Chamber of Minerals & Energy WA, with the assistance and input from a number of local representatives, making this a truly community based event.

The St Barbara’s Festival Inc. is a not for profit organisation, with proceeds from the festival going to the Western Australian School of Mines to assist in the education and training of future mining leaders for the Goldfields region.
Last year marked the 12th Anniversary for the Festival and this year it is sure to be bigger, better and more colourful than ever!
